Sugar Free Ginger Beer

This drink is thrist quenching, energising and revitalising. Ginger has so many powerful benefits because it is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.  It’s easy and inexpensive to make ginger beer at home.  



INGREDIENTS

  • 6 cm peeled and grated ginger root 
  • 1/2 a lemon juice
  • 1 T powdered sweetener (plus, depending on your taste)
  • 500 ml / 2 cups carbonated water
  • ice cubes
  • mint leaves or lemon slices to decorate

 

METHOD

  • Peel and grate ginger root.
  • Place ginger in a muslin or cheese cloth and squeeze out required amount of juice.
  • Mix ginger & lemon juice together with carbonated water in a jug.
  • Stir in sweetener to taste.
  • Add ice cubes.
  • Stir in mint leaves or lemon slices.
  • Serve while it's still carbonated & not watered down by the ice.
